STATE AND LOCAL REPORTING. 1 (a) DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ASSETS FORFEITURE 2 FUND.—Section 524(c)(6) of title 28, United States Code, 3 is amended by adding at the end the following: 4 ‘‘(E) Not later than January 1, 2024, and 5 every 6 months thereafter, each State and local 6 law enforcement agency with the authority to 7 prosecute a criminal case that receives property 8 or funds under this subsection, section 511(e) 9 of the Controlled Substances Act, or section 10 981(e) of title 18, shall transmit to Congress a 11 report detailing each receipt of property or 12 funds and the activity to which the property or 13 funds were directed for the previous fiscal year, 14 in the case of the first report, and for the pre- 15 vious 6-month period, in the case of each subse- 16 quent report.’’. 17 (b) CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES FORFEITURES.—Sec- 18 tion 511(e) of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 19 881) is amended by adding at the end the following: 20 ‘‘(5) Each State and local law enforcement 21 agency with the authority to prosecute a criminal 22 case that receives property or funds under this sub- 23 section shall include in the report transmitted to 24 Congress under section 524(c)(6)(E) of title 28, 25 United States Code, information detailing each re- 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:00 Apr 15, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2595.IH H2595 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 2595 IH ceipt of property or funds and the activity to which 1 the property or funds were directed.’’. 2 (c) CIVIL FORFEITURES.—Section 981 of title 18, 3 United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the 4 following: 5 ‘‘(l) Each State and local law enforcement agency 6 with the authority to prosecute a criminal case that re- 7 ceives property or funds under subsection (e) shall include 8 in the report transmitted to Congress under section 9 524(c)(6)(E) of title 28 information detailing each receipt 10 of property or funds and the activity to which the property 11 or funds were directed.’’. 12 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:00 Apr 15, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H2595.IH H2595 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS
