Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. MODIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 1 FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR EMERGENCY 2 TREATMENT FURNISHED TO VETERANS. 3 (a) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.—Section 4 1725(b)(2)(B) of title 38, United States Code, is amend- 5 ed— 6 (1) by striking ‘‘the veteran’’ and inserting ‘‘(i) 7 the veteran’’; 8 (2) by striking the period at the end and insert- 9 ing ‘‘; or’’; and 10 (3) by adding at the end the following new 11 clause: 12 ‘‘(ii) the veteran was furnished such emergency 13 treatment during the 60-day period following the 14 date on which the veteran enrolled in the health care 15 system specified in subparagraph (A).’’. 16 (b) APPLICABILITY.—The amendments made by sub- 17 section (a) shall apply with respect to emergency treat- 18 ment furnished on or after the date that is one year after 19 the date of the enactment of this Act. 20 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 05:02 Apr 20, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\S1172.IS S1172 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB
