To require consent for the Director of the United States
Marshals Service to deputize certain law enforcement
officers, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Keep Law Enforce-
4
ment Local Act of 2020’’.

SEC. 2. LIMITATIONS ON DEPUTATION AUTHORITY OF U.S.
6
MARSHALS SERVICE.

(a) CONSENT
REQUIRED.—The Director of the
8
United States Marshals Services shall not deputize local
9
law enforcement officers without the consent of the chief

(b) WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT.—The chief executive
3
of the unit of local government that provides consent pur-
4
suant to subsection (a), may withdraw such consent at any
5
time.
