Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. INSPECTION OF DECOMMISSIONING ACTIVITY AND 1 SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL TRANSFER ACTIVITY. 2 (a) IN GENERAL.—The Chairman of the Nuclear 3 Regulatory Commission shall assign, for the duration de- 4 scribed in subsection (b), a resident inspector to each com- 5 mercial nuclear power plant that has permanently ceased 6 operation to conduct inspections of decommissioning ac- 7 tivities and spent nuclear fuel transfer activities of the 8 commercial nuclear power plant. 9 (b) DURATION DESCRIBED.—The duration described 10 in this subsection is the period of time it takes to transfer 11 all spent nuclear fuel from the spent fuel pools of the com- 12 mercial nuclear power plant. 13 (c) REASSIGNMENT.—If there are no decommis- 14 sioning activities or spent nuclear fuel transfer activities 15 at the commercial nuclear power plant to which a resident 16 inspector is assigned under subsection (a), the Chairman 17 of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission may assign such 18 resident inspector to a different commercial nuclear power 19 plant. 20 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:32 Nov 07, 2020 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H8673.IH H8673 pamtmann on DSKBC07HB2PROD with BILLS
