Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. GRANT PROGRAM FOR TRAINING OF PHYSICIANS 1 ON PFAS. 2 Part P of title III of the Public Health Service Act 3 (42 U.S.C. 280g et seq.) is amended by adding at the end 4 the following: 5 ‘‘SEC. 399V–7. GRANT PROGRAM FOR TRAINING OF PHYSI- 6 CIANS ON PFAS. 7 ‘‘(a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary shall award 8 grants to eligible entities for the purpose of developing 9 courses for physicians or other medical practitioners to in- 10 form such physicians and medical practitioners about the 11 impact of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance ex- 12 posure on health outcomes and best practices for patients 13 who have been exposed to such substances. 14 ‘‘(b) ELIGIBLE ENTITIES.—To be eligible to receive 15 a grant under this section, and entity shall— 16 ‘‘(1) be— 17 ‘‘(A) a national or State medical organiza- 18 tion or other organization that provides edu- 19 cational courses to health care providers; or 20 ‘‘(B) an institution of medical research or 21 a clinical researcher at such an institution of 22 medical research; 23 ‘‘(2) have expertise in clinical conditions or dis- 24 eases that are related or exacerbated by 25 perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance expo- 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 23:03 Aug 09, 2020 Jkt 099200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S4313.IS S4313 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •S 4313 IS sure, experience in environmental health, and other 1 expertise and experience as the Secretary determines 2 appropriate; 3 ‘‘(3) commit to gathering input from patients 4 and clinicians when developing the training courses, 5 as the Secretary determines appropriate; and 6 ‘‘(4) submit an application to the Secretary at 7 such time, in such manner, and containing such in- 8 formation as the Secretary may require. 9 ‘‘(c) REPORTING.— 10 ‘‘(1) GRANTEE REPORTING TO THE SEC- 11 RETARY.—Each recipient of a grant under this sec- 12 tion shall annually report to the Secretary, in a form 13 and manner determined by the Secretary, on train- 14 ing materials developed through use of funds award- 15 ed under the grant.
