A BILL
To require a report to Congress on certain efforts in connec-
tion with the financial management systems of the De-
partment of Defense.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REPORT TO CONGRESS ON CERTAIN EFFORTS
3
IN CONNECTION WITH THE FINANCIAL MAN-
4
AGEMENT SYSTEMS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
5
DEFENSE.

(a) REPORT REQUIRED.—No later than 120 days
7
after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary
8
of Defense shall submit to Congress a report on the

progress of the Department of Defense in modernizing its
1
financial management enterprise.

(b) ELEMENTS.—The report required by subsection
3
(a) shall include following:
4
(1) A description of the actions taken by the
5
Department of Defense as part of the implementa-
6
tion of the Digital Modernization Strategy to mod-
7
ernize the data, architecture, and systems com-
8
prising its financial management enterprise.
9
(2) The name of each financial management
10
system in use by the Department, and an annotation
11
of the data for which such system is the official sys-
12
tem of record.
13
(3) The anticipated date of retirement for each
14
system named pursuant to paragraph (2) that is
15
planned to be retired.
16
(4) A summary of the retirement plan for any
17
system that will be retired, including the manner in
18
which data in such system will be transferred to a
19
different system.
20
(5) In the case of a system that is not planned
21
for retirement, a justification of the determination
22
not to retire such system.
23
(6) The amount spent by the Department on
24
operating and maintaining financial management
