A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to identify additional
factors for the design of the counseling pathways of
the Transition Assistance Program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. ADDITIONAL FACTORS FOR COUNSELING
3
PATHWAYS OF THE TRANSITION ASSISTANCE
4
PROGRAM.
5
(a) MEDICAL
OR ADMINISTRATIVE DISCHARGE.—
6
Section 1142(c)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is

amended—

(1) in subparagraph (E), by striking ‘‘Dis-

ability’’ and inserting ‘‘Potential or confirmed med-
2
ical discharge of the member’’; and
3
(2) in subparagraph (F), by striking ‘‘Char-
4
acter’’ and all that follows and inserting ‘‘Potential
5
or confirmed involuntary separation of the member.’’

(b) FAMILY DYNAMICS.—Section 1142(c)(1) of title
7
10, United States Code, as amended by section (a), is fur-
8
ther amended—
9
(1) by redesignating subparagraph (M) as sub-
10
paragraph (R); and
11
(2) by inserting after subparagraph (L) the fol-
12
lowing:
13
‘‘(M) Child care requirements of the member
14
(including whether a dependent of the member is en-
15
rolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program).
16
‘‘(N) The employment status of other adults in
17
the household of the member.
18
‘‘(O) The location of the duty station of the
19
member (including whether the member was sepa-
20
rated from family while on duty).
21
‘‘(P) The effects of operating tempo and per-
22
sonnel tempo on the member and the household of
23
the member.
