A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand the mem-
bership of the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans
to include veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, or queer.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Voices for Veterans
2
Act’’.

SEC. 2. EXPANSION OF MEMBERSHIP OF THE ADVISORY
4
COMMITTEE ON MINORITY VETERANS TO IN-
5
CLUDE VETERANS WHO ARE LESBIAN, GAY,
6
BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, OR QUEER.

(a)
EXPANSION
OF
MEMBERSHIP.—Subsection
8
(a)(2)(A) of section 544 of title 38, United States Code,
9
is amended—
10
(1) in clause (iv), by striking ‘‘and’’ at the end;
11
(2) in clause (v), by striking the period at the
12
end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and
13
(3) by inserting after clause (v) the following
14
new clauses:
15
‘‘(vi) veterans who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
16
transgender, or queer’’.

(b) EFFECTIVE
DATE.—Clause (vi) of section
18
544(a)(2)(A) of title 38, United States Code, shall apply
19
to appointments made on or after the date of the enact-
20
ment of this Act.
