A BILL
To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to
prohibit the misrepresentation of actions on behalf of
candidates for purposes of soliciting contributions or do-
nations.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Stop Scam PACs Act’’.

TION ON BEHALF OF CANDIDATES FOR PUR-

POSES OF SOLICITING CONTRIBUTIONS OR

DONATIONS.

(a) COVERAGE OF ALL MISREPRESENTATION OF AC-
5
TION ON BEHALF OF POLITICAL COMMITTEES.—Section
6
322(b)(1) of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971
7
(52 U.S.C. 30124(b)(1)) is amended—
8
(1) by striking ‘‘fraudulently’’; and
9
(2) by striking ‘‘or political party’’ and insert-
10
ing ‘‘or political committee (including a political
11
committee of a political party)’’.

(b) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by
13
subsection (a) shall take effect upon the expiration of the
14
90-day period which begins on the date of the enactment
15
of this Act.
