A BILL
To amend the Consumer Product Safety Act by repealing
certain provisions pertaining to enjoining disclosure, in-
creasing the minimum baseline civil penalties for viola-
tions, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Safety Hazard and
4
Recall Efficiency Information Act’’ or the ‘‘SHARE Infor-
5
mation Act’’.

SEC. 2. REPEAL OF ENJOINMENT OF DISCLOSURES.

Section 6(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (15
2
U.S.C. 2055(b)) is amended—
3
(1) in paragraph (1), by striking ‘‘Except as
4
provided by paragraph (4) of this subsection’’ and
5
inserting ‘‘Except as provided by paragraph (3) of
6
this subsection’’;
7
(2) by striking paragraph (3);
8
(3) by redesignating paragraphs (4) through
9
(8) as paragraphs (3) through (7), respectively; and
10
(4) in paragraph (3) (as redesignated by para-
11
graph (3)), by striking ‘‘Paragraphs (1) through
12
(3)’’ and inserting ‘‘Paragraphs (1) and (2)’’.

SEC. 3. INCREASE IN CIVIL PENALTIES.

(a) AMENDMENT.—Section 20(a) of the Consumer
15
Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C. 2069(a)) is amended by
16
striking ‘‘$15,000,000’’ each place it appears and insert-
17
ing ‘‘$50,000,000’’.

(b) APPLICATION.—The amendment made by sub-
19
section (a) shall apply to violations of the Consumer Prod-
20
uct Safety Act occurring on or after the date of enactment
21
of this Act.
