What This Bill Does
This bill sets aside money from a health profession grant program for U.S. territories. It also makes the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands eligible to receive these grants. The bill is called the "Territory Health Revitalization Act."

Section 2008(c)(1) of the Social Security Act (42

U.S.C. 1397g(c)(1)) is amended by inserting ‘‘5 percent
3
of which for each fiscal year shall be reserved for grants
4
to States other than the 50 States and the District of Co-
5
lumbia’’ before the period.

SEC. 3. ELIGIBILITY OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE
7
NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS.

Section 2008(a)(4) of the Social Security Act (42
9
U.S.C. 1397g(a)(4)) is amended by striking subparagraph
10
(E).

SEC. 4. GUARANTEE OF GRANTEES IN THE TERRITORIES.

Section 2008(a)(2) of the Social Security Act (42
13
U.S.C. 1397g(a)(2)) is amended by adding at the end the
14
following:

‘‘(D) GUARANTEE OF GRANTEES IN THE
16
TERRITORIES.—The Secretary shall award at
17
least 2 grants under this subsection to an eligi-
18
ble entity that is located in a territory, to the
19
extent there are a sufficient number applica-
20
tions submitted by such an eligible entity that
21
meet the requirements of subparagraph (B).’’.

SEC. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.
23
The amendments made by this Act shall take effect
24
on October 1, 2023.
