To direct the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency,
acting through the Administrator of the United States Fire Administra-
tion, to submit to Congress a report regarding the age and condition
of fire stations in the United States.

A BILL
To direct the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Man-
agement Agency, acting through the Administrator of
the United States Fire Administration, to submit to Con-
gress a report regarding the age and condition of fire
stations in the United States.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Fire Station Infra-
4
structure Safety Act’’.

SEC. 2. REPORT ON FIRE STATIONS.

Not later than one year after the date of the enact-
2
ment of this Act, the Administrator of the Federal Emer-
3
gency Management Agency, acting through the Adminis-
4
trator of the United States Fire Administration, shall sub-
5
mit to the appropriate congressional committees a report
6
relating to fire stations in the United States, including—
7
(1) the age and condition of all Federal, State,
8
and local fire stations;
9
(2) whether there have been investments within
10
the last 15 years to remodel a fire station with Fed-
11
eral, State, or local funds;
12
(3) if investments described under paragraph
13
(2) occurred, the nature and details of such invest-
14
ments;
15
(4) whether the condition of a fire station im-
16
pairs the ability of a fire service to protect property
17
and maintain the safety and welfare of the public;
18
and
19
(5) whether the condition of a fire station nega-
20
tively impacts the health and safety of the personnel
21
of a fire service.

TEES.—The term ‘‘appropriate congressional com-

mittees’’ means—

(A) the Committee on Homeland Security
4
and the Committee on Transportation and In-
5
frastructure of the House of Representatives;
6
and
7
(B) the Committee on Homeland Security
8
and Governmental Affairs and the Committee
9
on Environment and Public Works of the Sen-
10
ate.

(2) FIRE
STATION.—The term ‘‘fire station’’
12
means the physical building and other infrastructure
13
used by a fire service.
14
(3) FIRE SERVICE; STATE; LOCAL.—The terms
15
‘‘fire service’’, ‘‘State’’, and ‘‘local’’ have the mean-
16
ings given such terms in section 4 of the Federal
17
Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974 (15 U.S.C.
18
2202).
