A BILL
To require the Secretary of Transportation to provide funds
to address motor vehicle safety and impaired driving,
and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Combatting Impaired
4
Driving Act of 2019’’.

SEC. 2. MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY AND IMPAIRED DRIVING.

(a) AUTHORIZATION OF FUNDS.—The Secretary of
7
Transportation shall provide funding for grants, pilot pro-
8
gram activities, demonstration projects, and innovative so-
9
lutions to improve motor vehicle safety, as defined in sec-

tion 30102 of title 49, United States Code, to address im-

paired driving, including alcohol, marijuana, and opioid-

impaired driving.

(b) FUNDING AMOUNT.—There is authorized to be
4
appropriated to the Secretary to carry out subsection (a),
5
amounts as follows:

(1) $7,000,000 for fiscal year 2021.
7
(2) $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2022.

(3) $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2023.
9
(4) $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2024.
10
(5) $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2025.
