A BILL
To ensure an evidence-based funding approach to study the
effects of health professions opportunity grant dem-
onstration projects, and to evaluate the demonstration
projects.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Impacts and Outcomes
4
for Health Career Training Act’’.

THE EFFECTS OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS OP-

PORTUNITY
GRANT
DEMONSTRATION

PROJECTS; EVALUATION OF DEMONSTRA-
4
TION PROJECTS.

Section 2008 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
6
1397g) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and
7
(d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and by insert-
8
ing after subsection (b) the following:

‘‘(c) STUDY.—
10
‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary shall con-
11
duct a study of the short-, medium-, and long-term
12
impacts of the demonstration projects for which a
13
grant is made under this section, including the em-
14
ployment and earnings of project participants.
15
‘‘(2) FUNDING.—The Secretary shall use not
16
less than 4 percent of total amount made available
17
to carry out this section for each fiscal year for the
18
study required by paragraph (1), evaluations, and
19
associated staffing, for the purpose of supporting the
20
rigorous evaluation of the demonstration projects,
21
and supporting the continued study of the short-,
22
medium-, and long-term effects of the demonstration
23
projects, including the effectiveness of new or added
24
elements of the demonstration projects.’’.
