Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. FINDINGS. 3 Congress finds the following: 4 (1) In 2018, the Tall Ship SSV Oliver Hazard 5 Perry was named the Official Flagship and Tall 6 Ship Ambassador of Rhode Island. 7 (2) At 200 feet long, the 3-masted Tall Ship 8 SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest civilian Sail- 9 VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:55 Jul 09, 2019 Jkt 089200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S2055.IS S2055 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42 with BILLS 2 •S 2055 IS ing School Vessel in the United States and serves as 1 Rhode Island’s Official Education Sailing Vessel. 2 (3) The mission of the Tall Ship SSV Oliver 3 Hazard Perry is to provide innovative and empow- 4 ering education-at-sea programs that promote per- 5 sonal and professional growth. 6 (4) The Tall Ship SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is 7 named after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, from 8 Rhode Island, who led United States forces to vic- 9 tory in the decisive Battle of Lake Erie in the War 10 of 1812. 11 SEC. 2.
