A BILL
To require applications for a health profession opportunity
grant under section 2008 of the Social Security Act
to contain evidence of in-demand jobs or worker short-
ages.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Labor Market Re-

sponse Act’’.

SEC. 2. REQUIREMENT THAT APPLICATION CONTAIN EVI-

DENCE OF IN-DEMAND JOBS OR WORKER

SHORTAGES.

Section 2008 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
4
1397g) is amended by redesignating subsections (c) and
5
(d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and inserting
6
after subsection (b) the following:

‘‘(c) APPLICATION REQUIREMENT.—An application
8
for a grant under this section shall contain a description
9
of the availability and relevance of recent labor market
10
information and other pertinent evidence of in-demand
11
jobs or worker shortages.’’.

SEC. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
13
The amendment made by this Act shall take effect
14
on October 1, 2019.
