AN ACT
To amend the National Trails System Act to direct the
Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study on the
feasibility of designating the Chief Standing Bear Na-
tional Historic Trail, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

TRAIL FEASIBILITY STUDY.

Section 5(c) of the National Trails System Act (16

U.S.C. 1244(c)) is amended by adding at the end the fol-
4
lowing:

ββ(xx) CHIEF STANDING BEAR NATIONAL HIS-
6
TORIC TRAIL.βThe Chief Standing Bear Trail, ex-
7
tending approximately 550 miles from Niobrara, Ne-
8
braska, to Ponca City, Oklahoma, which follows the
9
route taken by Chief Standing Bear and the Ponca
10
people during Federal Indian removal, and approxi-
11
mately 550 miles from Ponca City, Oklahoma,
12
through Omaha, Nebraska, to Niobrara, Nebraska,
13
which follows the return route taken by Chief Stand-
14
ing Bear and the Ponca people.ββ.
