A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to adopt certain
strategies for preventive colorectal screenings for vet-
erans, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Increasing Veteran Ac-
4
cess to Colorectal Cancer Screening Act of 2019’’.

STRATEGIES
FOR
PREVENTIVE
COLORECTAL

SCREENINGS FOR VETERANS.

(a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of Veterans Affairs
8
shall ensure that the colorectal cancer preventive screening
9
guidelines used in each medical facility of the Department

of Veterans Affairs and non-Department facility at which
1
veterans receive hospital care or medical services under
2
chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code, include all
3
strategies for preventive colorectal screenings included
4
in—
5
(1) the latest recommendations of the United
6
States Preventive Services Task Force; and
7
(2) the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and In-
8
formation Set issued by the National Committee for
9
Quality Assurance.

(b) DEADLINE.—The Secretary shall carry out this
11
section not later than 180 days after the date of the enact-
12
ment of this Act.
