ing office, and for other purposes.

Ms. SA´NCHEZ introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Com-
mittee on Oversight and Reform, and in addition to the Committee on
House Administration, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within
the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

To amend the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 to require
certain Federal officials to make requisite financial dis-
closures within 30 days of assuming office, and for other
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Financial Account-
4
ability in Reporting Act’’ or the ‘‘FAIR Act’’.

SEC. 2. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES WITHIN 30 DAYS OF AS-

SUMING OFFICE.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 101(a) of the Ethics in
3
Government Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App. 101) is amend-
4
ed—
5
(1) by striking ‘‘or as a candidate for the posi-
6
tion’’; and
7
(2) by adding after the period at the end the
8
following: ‘‘An individual who assumes any such po-
9
sition and who filed a report as a candidate for such
10
position under subsection (c) shall file a report con-
11
taining the information described in section 102(b)
12
by May 15 of the year in which the individual as-
13
sumed the position or within 30 days of assuming
14
the position, whichever is later.’’.

(b) APPLICATION.—The amendments made by sub-
16
section (a) shall apply to any individual assuming the posi-
17
tion of an officer or employee described in subsection (f)
18
of section 101 of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978
19
(5 U.S.C. App. 101(f)) on or after the date of enactment
20
of this section.
