Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES WITHIN 30 DAYS OF AS- 1 SUMING OFFICE. 2 (a) IN GENERAL.—Section 101(a) of the Ethics in 3 Government Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App. 101) is amend- 4 ed— 5 (1) by striking ‘‘or as a candidate for the posi- 6 tion’’; and 7 (2) by adding after the period at the end the 8 following: ‘‘An individual who assumes any such po- 9 sition and who filed a report as a candidate for such 10 position under subsection (c) shall file a report con- 11 taining the information described in section 102(b) 12 by May 15 of the year in which the individual as- 13 sumed the position or within 30 days of assuming 14 the position, whichever is later.’’. 15 (b) APPLICATION.—The amendments made by sub- 16 section (a) shall apply to any individual assuming the posi- 17 tion of an officer or employee described in subsection (f) 18 of section 101 of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 19 (5 U.S.C.
