Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. REPORT ON DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECU- 1 RITY RESPONSES TO TERRORIST THREATS 2 TO FEDERAL ELECTIONS. 3 (a) SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY.—Not 4 later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of 5 this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall submit 6 to the Comptroller General of the United States and Con- 7 gress a report on actions taken by the Department of 8 Homeland Security relating to terrorist threats to the in- 9 tegrity of elections for Federal office held in 2016. 10 (b) GAO ASSESSMENT.—The Comptroller General of 11 the United States shall, upon receipt of the report re- 12 quired pursuant to subsection (a), conduct an assessment 13 of the effectiveness of Department of Homeland Security 14 actions described in such report and include recommenda- 15 tions for improvements as the Comptroller General deter- 16 mines appropriate. 17 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 02:27 Jan 08, 2019 Jkt 089200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H52.IH H52 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42 with BILLS
