Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 2 † S 432 ES SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Nulhegan River and 2 Paul Stream Wild and Scenic River Study Act of 2023’’. 3 SEC. 2. AMENDMENTS TO THE WILD AND SCENIC RIVERS 4 ACT. 5 (a) DESIGNATION FOR STUDY.—Section 5(a) of the 6 Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16 U.S.C. 1276(a)) is amend- 7 ed by adding at the end the following: 8 ‘‘(147) NULHEGAN RIVER AND PAUL STREAM, 9 VERMONT.—The following segments: 10 ‘‘(A) The approximately 22-mile segment 11 of the main stem of the Nulhegan River from 12 the headwaters near Nulhegan Pond to the con- 13 fluence with the Connecticut River, and any as- 14 sociated tributaries (including the North, Yel- 15 low, Black, and East Branches). 16 ‘‘(B) The approximately 18-mile segment 17 of Paul Stream from the headwaters on West 18 Mountain to the confluence with the Con- 19 necticut River, and any associated tributaries.’’. 20 (b) STUDY AND REPORT.—Section 5(b) of the Wild 21 and Scenic Rivers Act (16 U.S.C. 1276(b)) is amended 22 by adding at the end the following: 23 ‘‘(24) NULHEGAN RIVER AND PAUL STREAM, 24 VERMONT.—Not later than 3 years after the date on 25 3 † S 432 ES which funds are made available to carry out this 1 paragraph, the Secretary of the Interior shall— 2 ‘‘(A) complete the study of the Nulhegan 3 River and Paul Stream segments in Vermont 4 described in subsection (a)(147); and 5 ‘‘(B) submit to the appropriate committees 6 of Congress a report describing the results of 7 such study.’’. 8 Passed the Senate December 18 (legislative day, De- cember 16), 2024.
