CLARIFICATION REGARDING UNITED NATIONS GEN- 6 ERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION 2758 (XXVI). 7 Subsection (a) of section 2 of the Taiwan Allies Inter- 8 national Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) 9 Act of 2019 (Public Law 116–135) (relating to diplomatic 10 relations with Taiwan) is amended by adding at the end 11 the following new paragraphs: 12 ‘‘(10) United Nations General Assembly Reso- 13 lution 2758 (XXVI) established the representatives 14 of the Government of the People’s Republic of China 15 as the only lawful representatives of China to the 16 United Nations. REPORT ON THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA’S 1 ATTEMPTS TO PROMOTE ITS ‘‘ONE CHINA’’ 2 POSITION. 3 (a) IN GENERAL.—Subsection (b) of section 5 of the 4 Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement 5 Initiative (TAIPEI) Act of 2019 (relating to strength- 6 ening ties with Taiwan) is amended by inserting before 7 the period at the end the following: ‘‘, as well as informa- 8 tion relating to any prior or ongoing attempts by the Peo- 9 ple’s Republic of China to undermine Taiwan’s member- 10 ship or observer status in all organizations described in 11 section (4)(1) and Taiwan’s ties and relationships with 12 other countries in accordance with subsection (a) of this 13 section’’. 14 (b) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendment made by 15 subsection (a) shall take effect on the date of the enact- 16 ment of this Act and apply beginning with the first report 17 required under subsection (b) of section 5 of the Taiwan 18 Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initia- 19 tive (TAIPEI) Act of 2019, as amended by subsection (a), 20 that is required after such date. 21 Passed the House of Representatives July 25, 2023.
