SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Gabriella Miller Kids 2 First Research Act 2.0’’. 3 SEC. 2. FUNDING FOR THE PEDIATRIC RESEARCH INITIA- 4 TIVE. 5 The Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 201 et 6 seq.) is amended— 7 (1) in section 402A(a)(2) (42 U.S.C. 8 282a(a)(2))— 9 (A) in the heading— 10 (i) by striking ‘‘10-YEAR’’; and 11 (ii) by striking ‘‘THROUGH COMMON 12 FUND’’; 13 (B) by striking ‘‘to the Common Fund’’ 14 and inserting ‘‘to the Division of Program Co- 15 ordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives’’; 16 (C) by striking ‘‘10-Year’’; 17 (D) by striking ‘‘and reserved under sub- 18 section (c)(1)(B)(i) of this section’’; and 19 (E) by inserting before the period the fol- 20 lowing: ‘‘, and $25,000,000 for each of fiscal 21 years 2023 through 2027’’; 22 (2) in each of paragraphs (1)(A) and (2)(C) of 23 section 402A(c) (42 U.S.C. 282a(c)), by striking 24 ‘‘section 402(b)(7)(B)’’ and inserting ‘‘section 25 402(b)(7)(B)(i)’’; and 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:09 Jul 29, 2022 Jkt 029200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H623.RFS H623 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 3 HR 623 RFS (3) in section 402(b)(7)(B)(ii) (42 U.S.C. 1 282(b)(7)(B)(ii)), by striking ‘‘the Common Fund’’ 2 and inserting ‘‘the Division of Program Coordina- 3 tion, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives’’. 4 SEC. 3. COORDINATION OF NIH FUNDING FOR PEDIATRIC 5 RESEARCH. 6 (a) SENSE OF CONGRESS.—It is the sense of the Con- 7 gress that the Director of the National Institutes of 8 Health should continue to oversee and coordinate research 9 that is conducted or supported by the National Institutes 10 of Health for research on pediatric cancer and other pedi- 11 atric diseases and conditions, including through the Pedi- 12 atric Research Initiative Fund. 13 (b) AVOIDING DUPLICATION.—Section 14 402(b)(7)(B)(ii) of the Public Health Service Act (42 15 U.S.C. 282(b)(7)(B)(ii)) is amended by inserting ‘‘and 16 shall prioritize, as appropriate, such pediatric research 17 that does not duplicate existing research activities of the 18 National Institutes of Health’’ before ‘‘; and’’. 19 SEC. 4.
